Edible Peanut Butter Playdough

We made some peanut butter playdough yesterday! Playdough is one of those strings I like to pull from my hat of tricks when I really need to contain my toddler while I work on something important, or when I really just need a break. I can usually count on her to sit nicely in her high chair and play with her play dough for 15-20 minutes....and that is a long time when you're a mom of a toddler!

I found this recipe on Skiptomylou.org and not only does it taste yummy, but it's fantastic to squish, roll and play with (I had a little fun with it too!)

The recipe is simple:

1/2 cup smooth peanut butter (I used Skippy Smooth)

1/4 to 1/2 cup flour

2 Tablespoons of honey
  1. In medium bowl, stir peanut butter and honey.
  2. Add flour gradually to desired consistency, switching to hand kneading as it thickens.
  3. Store in an air-tight container for up to a couple of days.
This recipe makes enough for one child. My daughter had a blast. At first I was worried she would eat more than she would play, but she actually did great! She had plenty of plastic cut outs, a little cup or two and some pretend forks and knives.
This recipe is perfect for little ones who still like to try things in their mouth from time to time.
